Media Production Diploma
at Engine Shed
Our first creative agency has now started at Bristol's Engine Shed. Study for a Media Diploma nested as part of a team starting September 2017.
Introduction to the Diploma
Welcome to our new Media Production Diploma created in association with Bristol’s Learning City and the Engine Shed. The course at Engine Shed is Bristol’s first independent course that places students at the heart of Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone.
Our aim is to challenge the notion of a traditional Post-16 study programme. You will be working in a commercial design agency environment for the duration of your two year extended diploma. You’ll be part of one of the UK’s main hubs for digital and creative innovation, working on real projects for real clients and gaining real creative sector experience.
If you want to work in the competitive world of visual communications and media production you’ll need to demonstrate not just your qualifications but the range of your practical experience. This course, like no other, has been designed to deliver that experience. The course is a full time two year Extended Level 3 Diploma that’s equivalent to 3 A levels. We want to recruit from all areas of Bristol to bring the most exciting young talent together and train a group of creative professionals who comprehensively reflect the diversity of our city.
The Media Production Diploma is a new approach to post 16 study that bridges the gap between school and the workplace. It is a full-time, 2 year course at Level 3 which is UCAS accredited and equivalent in size to up to 3 A levels.
We call it the Agency because that’s exactly what it is. If successful in gaining a place you will be working as part of commercial media design and production agency delivering real live projects for real clients. The difference is that you’re taking a Level 3 extended diploma at the same time, so ensuring you have the qualification and the best possible experience to succeed in your chosen progression route whether that’s university or the industry.
As well as working on projects for clients you’ll be working on boomsatsuma’s growing production strands; producing music videos for our eclectic sessions with new artists, creating the marketing for boomsatsuma presents gigs with some of the best emerging artists in the UK and supporting our DNA arts and film making operations.
Don’t think “I’m not creative enough”. You may be more creative than you think and just haven’t found the right medium for your talents. As we work in the model of a media agency we’ll need to develop a whole range of skills and expertise including project managers, researchers, marketeers and creative entrepreneurs.
We need young people who are:
• open minded
• good communicators
• team players
• potential leaders
• ready to make a difference
• want to make their mark
• ready to come to work
