Easton CE Primary ACademy Artist in Residence

We started to work with Easton CE Primary Academy through a grant from the Diocese of Bristol to enhance cohesion in the school community through the arts.

The Headteacher, Peter Overton, was so impressed with the results that he commissioned us to put an artist in residence part time at the academy for a year. That’s been so successful that the artist is back for a second year.

Working across all year groups boomsatsuma’s Amy Davis has created a magical reading forest and produced a learning vine that weaves its way around the corridors bringing the children’s thoughts to life and their lives onto the walls.
-- and supported teachers to develop more ambitious and engaging arts practice.

Children and parents’ engagement in the school has increased, behaviour has improved as have learning outcomes.

East Bristol Primary Art Studio

In 2015 we embarked on an 8 month project funded in part by Arts Council England to set up a Primary Art Studio in East Bristol.
The idea was to bring ambitious, contemporary arts practice to children in 5 East Bristol schools by sharing the skills of 4 artists in a virtual studio.
Here are some of the results.
