The boomsatsuma team would like to congratulate Belinda Humphries on her recent competition win, as selected by the Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees.

Belinda entered her short film, which started life as a short ident for boomsatsuma education she made during her first year studying our Media Production Diploma, into the new city-wide 'Film Our City' competition set up by Marvin Rees and Bristol Film Office. The competition launch coincided with the recent announcement of Bristol's new UNESCO City of Film status.

Having a ball

On her film being shortlisted as one of the finalists, Belinda started working with a mentor, Julian Barton-Hill from Doghouse Post Production. They started to recreate the film to better face the original brief set for the competition. Initially, Belinda and Julian worked remotely between Bristol and Falmouth University - where Belinda is now studying her BA (Hons) degree in Television, planning ahead for the reshoot which would take place across Bristol during the Easter break. Belinda's new film is now titled 'Our City: Having a ball'.

Two-time winner!

We were always fond of the original film at boomsatsuma, which won an award at last years' Pocket Pictures Short Film Competition, which is set to be run again by our Curzon Cinema student team. Its great to see this new version stays true to Belinda's clever original idea, but breathes a breath of new life into it and provides a pleasing 'play on words' pay off at the end. Check it out below...

Well done, Belinda! As ever, we look forward to seeing all the work you produce going forward.
