boomsatsuma staff take on the Miles for Refugees challenge

We are really proud of our boomsatsuma staff for coming together to raise money and awareness for a great cause.

2020 has been full of challenges so far, so why not take on another one that can make a positive difference? As a team we have challenged ourselves to complete a combined total of 2,546 miles over the course of September in order to raise money to support refugees, people seeking asylum and migrants living in vulnerable situations here in the UK.

The number of miles that the team are taking on are not random - they are what many refugees have to travel each day to find safety. From 22 miles, the length of the English Channel, to 555 miles, Izmir to Dubrovnik. These are journeys that many refugees have to risk every day to find safety.

We are tackling the miles in all forms of exercise, swimming, running, cycling, walking, anyone can do it! We have been encouraged to think of an alternative before hopping in the car!

The Red Cross teams support refugees at every stage of their journey, the money that we raise can go towards helping reunite families, giving young refugees advice on careers and mental health support, to providing food and hygiene packs for families left vulnerable in the UK. Every mile that we complete as a team is one step closer to helping.

So far we have raised £2,253 and we are only the second week in - we hope to raise more by the end of September! As it stands Lyndsay, our Creative Projects Manager, is in the lead having raised £938.09 alone.
