Western Creative Space.

Creative Space was established in Weston Youth Centre on the Bournville estate in 2012 and was one of boomsatsuma’s first projects.

The idea was to make a space run by young people for young people where young people could come and take part in an array of arts activities.

It was set up with funding from Arts Council England who have continued to support it through our partnership with local charity Our Way Our Say.

During it’s 5 years of operation it has run projects in street and jazz dance, illustration, craft work, musical theatre, drama, photography, sculpture, textiles as well as a 2 year Youth Music programme creating the South Weston Ensemble and 4 spoken word programmes funded by Children in Need and Quartet Community Foundation.

In that time we have delivered 6 community arts apprenticeships to NEET young people, inspired 10 young volunteers and engaged over 400 young people in the arts.
