Sports Media Students Create Matchday Content

Boomsatsuma’s Sports Media Production students created a range of kicking content to be featured across the media to strengthen Non-League football clubs' relationships with their fans in the South West.

In support of Non-League Day, the students produced matchday programmes, highlights, photographs, documentaries and more for football teams across their online channels, fulfilling the brief of encouraging people to attend their local football fixtures on Saturday 25th March. The students have been engaged with projects across sixteen West Country teams, committed to providing them with content to help connect with fan communities.

Weston-super-Mare AFC Communications Manager, Alex Crowther, commented:

"Our collaboration with boomsatsuma in producing matchday media has allowed us to deliver high-quality, engaging content to our fans, which is what it’s all about. They’ve been the perfect creative partners."

This annual project has allowed boomsatsuma students to build a rapport with local media, giving them an insight into real-life work, complimenting their course, and opening doors to potential future collaborations and paid work.

Josh Taylor, Year 12 Sports Media Production student, reflects upon his time working with the teams and media:

"I’ve really valued the experience of building relationships with the local media and football community, it’s something you can’t learn from a textbook. Being so hands-on throughout the process, with creative freedom has given me a real understanding about what's involved when working in this area of the industry."

The students produce matchday programmes and vlogs for the Seagulls’ (Weston-super-Mare AFC) social media and a documentary on the grassroots community for Nailsea and Tickenham FC. They have also been working alongside other South West clubs including, Taunton Town, Portishead Town, Stockwood Wanderers, Winscombe FC and Roman Glass St. George to produce a range of assets to support the clubs, in-line with the core ethos of creating meaningful workplace experiences and opportunities for boomsatsuma students.

Boomsatsuma Sports Media Production students consistently support Non-League football. Here are some examples of work produced.
