Boomsatsuma College Students Celebrate on Results Day 2025

Boomsatsuma college students are celebrating some incredible achievements this year — and it’s clear the future of Bristol’s creative industries is in very capable hands.

This year, one in three of our college students earned the top Distinction grade, half achieved Distinction or higher, and nine in ten secured Merit or above. Every single student passed, and our overall course completion rate hit 95% — well above the national post-16 average of 67%.

Why Boomsatsuma Stands Out

Boomsatsuma isn’t about ticking boxes — it’s about giving students the freedom, agency, and support to explore their creativity and connect it directly to the real world. That means hands-on experiences that go far beyond the classroom.

This year alone, students went behind the scenes with Arcadia at Glastonbury Festival, delivered a live project for national advertisers Clear Channel, captured athletes at Bristol’s High Performance Centre, and showcased work at major photography festivals — and that’s just a snapshot of what’s on offer.

From live briefs and workshops to exhibitions and end-of-year showcases, students get genuine industry exposure while pursuing what excites them most.

“We always say our students take charge of their learning, and these results prove it. It’s a joy to watch them grow into capable, skilled creatives — we couldn’t be prouder. With our successful partnerships with Cabot Learning Federation and Olympus, we are delivering outcomes well above national averages. I’m confident that with their support, Boomsatsuma will continue to make a real impact on the South West’s creative economy and the communities we serve. A huge congratulations to this year’s cohort.”

Progression and Possibility

This year, every Boomsatsuma college student is progressing into a positive next step — whether that’s higher education, work, industry placements or creative apprenticeships. Around 15% are choosing to stay with Boomsatsuma, progressing straight into Boomsatsuma degree programmes, from Filmmaking: Production and Post Production at Bristol Film School to Game Design and Production, and Photography and Print. Here’s just a snapshot of where our students are heading: one Games student is starting a Level 7 Apprenticeship with the RAF in design technology, while a Creative and Digital Media student earned a placement at Vogue — with her portfolio praised as degree-level work.

These stories show how Boomsatsuma equips students with transferable skills and real-world experience, setting them up for success across creative sectors — and beyond. Many graduates stay connected with the college as mentors and teachers, reflecting the supportive community that makes Boomsatsuma unique.

“My time at Boomsatsuma is something I will value forever. It has given me confidence in myself and my creative ability, along with a stronger understanding of the creative industry. These have been the best two years of my educational journey — I never thought I’d actually want to go into school until I joined Boomsatsuma. It is a safe place that allows us to share our passions without judgement, and we had endless encouragement and support from the teachers.”
