Boomsatsuma college students are celebrating another year of outstanding achievements, with this year’s cohort taking their next steps into higher education, creative apprenticeships and careers across the creative industries.
The results today reflect a year of creativity, ambition and hard work, with students developing the professional skills, industry experience and confidence that have become synonymous with a Boomsatsuma education route.
Through live industry briefs, public exhibitions, collaborative projects and professional mentoring, students have built portfolios and gained real-world experiences that prepare them for life beyond college.
Throughout the year, students have worked with industry partners, responded to live client briefs and showcased their work across Bristol’s creative sector, giving them opportunities to develop both creatively and professionally.
“Results Day is always a proud moment because it represents so much more than grades. It reflects the creativity, commitment and resilience our students have shown, as well as the confidence they’ve built through real creative industry experiences. At Boomsatsuma, we want every student to leave with the skills, ambition and belief to shape their future and take their next step. I’m incredibly proud of what this year’s cohort has achieved, and excited to see where their talent takes them.”
Tom Sowden, Director of Education, Boomsatsuma
Students from this year’s cohort are progressing into a wide range of exciting destinations, including degree-level study, creative apprenticeships and employment across the creative industries.
After achieving a Distinction* in Film & TV, Euan is continuing his creative journey at Boomsatsuma, progressing onto our Filmmaking: Production degree this September. He credits the practical nature of the college course, access to professional equipment and the support of his tutors with building both his skills and confidence.
“I loved how practical it was and having so many opportunities to get my hands on a camera, experiment and see how things worked. The teachers were always incredibly supportive and patient.”
“I’m so excited to get my hands on a camera again and start my degree at Boomsatsuma.”
“I want to become a video editor, so now moving onto the Filmmaking: Post Production degree at Boomsatsuma means I can scale higher in the industry and grow professionally.”
Luna, Year 13 Film and TV college student
Photography student Georgia came into Results Day nervous despite knowing she’d produced work she was proud of – and left very pleased with her final grade. Her result marks the mix of a course focused on developing students’ individual creative practice and the confidence to recognise the quality in their own work.
“I was so nervous when I came in, but I knew I’d done well and was proud of the work I’d produced. I’m really happy with my grade.”
For Photography student Hannah, the freedom to develop her own creative ideas was one of the highlights of studying at Boomsatsuma.
She said: “The best thing was having the freedom to do what I wanted creatively. I decided to do an underwater photography project, which was a brilliant experience. I’m really happy with what I’ve achieved here.”
After completing Film & TV, Luna is another college student continuing at Boomsatsuma onto our Filmmaking: Post Production degree, building on the professional experience she gained at college as she works towards a career in video editing.Â
“I loved being able to use professional cameras. I want to become a video editor, so now moving onto the Filmmaking: Post Production degree at Boomsatsuma means I can scale higher in the industry and grow professionally.”
Having already developed her skills using professional camera equipment, she is looking forward to specialising further at degree level at Boomsatsuma.
“If you’d told me three years ago that I was going to university, I would have laughed – now I’m just excited to get my hands on a camera again and start my degree at Boomsatsuma.”
