Our Filmmaking: Post Production year 1 students have collaborated with Bristol City Leap to create a series of documentary films about climate action across Bristol.

Working to a live industry brief, student crews produced six short films for community organisations supported through the Bristol City Leap Community Energy Fund, telling stories of sustainability, innovation and community resilience.

The films feature organisations St Werburghs City Farm, SS Great Britain, St Pauls Community Project, 58th Scouts, Friends of Jubilee Pool, and One Green Kitchen, exploring how local groups are reimagining energy use and creating change from the ground up.

For students, the project was a chance to gain hands-on experience working with a real client, developing documentary skills while producing films intended for wider public audiences.

“This project has been a brilliant example of what happens when education and industry come together with a shared purpose,” said Head of Post Production, Mark Adams.

“Students were able to work professionally, creatively and collaboratively while telling stories that really matter.”

From research and interviews to location shoots and post-production, students took on the full production process, creating films that not only build their portfolios but contribute to a wider conversation about Bristol’s future.

Projects like this reflect Boomsatsuma’s commitment to giving students opportunities to work on live briefs, build industry experience and use creativity to make meaningful work from day one.
