Bristol Film School student wins Best Student Film at Bradford International Film Festival
Bristol Film School Boomsatsuma student Tali Neal has won Best Student Film at the Bradford International Film Festival for her documentary SPIDERGIRL.
Tali, who is in her final year of the BA (Hons) Filmmaking: Production degree, created the award-winning documentary as part of her second-year documentary module.
SPIDERGIRL sees Tali revisit her childhood and explore her lifelong fascination with spiders, uncovering a surprising connection between her passion for these often-misunderstood creatures and her dyslexic thinking skills.
Speaking about her win, Tali said: “I was absolutely thrilled to pick up my first ever film award! Thanks to everyone at Bristol Film School Boomsatsuma for all their support!”
Having previously studied at Boomsatsuma College before progressing onto the filmmaking degree, Tali’s success is a fantastic example of the creative journeys students can take through Boomsatsuma.
Tali travelled to Bradford to attend the festival, where she also joined a filmmaker panel alongside fellow Bristol Film School graduate Gustav Canham, whose film Egg was also nominated at the festival.
The award is another brilliant achievement for Bristol Film School students, whose films continue to gain recognition at festivals and industry events.
